Robbie Jay is a DJ and music producer born in Dublin, Ireland but has been living in central London for the past 14 years. Robbie started DJ’ing house and trance tracks at the age of 15, when he bought his first set of turntables, KAM Belt Drives! Loving the feeling of mixing tracks, and then went on to fully appreciate just how important track selection is within the journey of a mix, whether it be a pre-selected podcast mix or reacting to a live crowd and this ear for a good selection has brought Robbie Jay many a gig.
His biggest sets in Ireland before moving to London were at The Red Box and The Pod. Along with many jobs in London, Robbie has played at many villa parties in Ibiza and across Europe including Paris, Bordeaux,
Marrakech, Budapest, across the UK and in Scotland.
He is just as comfortable staying true to his underground roots
as he is playing funky or chilled out, ambient sounds
which is why he has played a wide variety of events,
from Turnmills, Pacha and the Ministry of Sound in London
and media worlds in member’s clubs at Home House in Mayfair,
The Hospital Club in Covent Garden.
is eclectic musical taste and style varies from deep and tech
House, through to 70’s funk, 80’s electro music and 90’s
hip-hop, but he also loves Trance, Soul, Middle Eastern
sounds and even Saharan groups such as the nomad band
Tinariwen. Having such an open mind to music allows Robbie
to ensure that whoever he is playing to is truly enjoying their
musical experience, and understanding what the crowd wants
and needs is very important to him.
